The Wallenpaupack Historical Society is a local nonprofit that preserves and shares the history of the Lake Wallenpaupack area. Its collection includes artifacts and research materials connected to the families, buildings, and communities that came before us. The society also maintains historic sites, including the Williams House and the Purdytown area, and supports local history research and publishing.
This is a great resource for families with kids who enjoy learning about history, local landmarks and how the lake region changed over time. Check the society’s website for their calendar and newsletter since programs and special events are scheduled throughout the year.
They also published a free local history “past-port” guide for the Northern Poconos and sell a number of publications on notable historical sites around the area.
